Greek Coffee | Alfa Katsifa

Traditional Greek coffee is made of finely ground coffee beans that are boiled in a coffee pot called briki. The difference with other types of coffee is that it is boiled rather than brewed! One main characteristic is the thick foam (kaimaki) that is created when the coffee is boiled. The coffee is considered successful if the kaimaki remains intact while the coffee is served in its small cup. A fun fact is that the grounds left after drinking Greek coffee have been used to tell fortunes! The traditional Greek coffee with the distinctively rich and creamy flavour is best accompanied by a sweet loukoumi!
